Alan Tolhurst, Associate Director of The idm Group received an OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 26th November for his services to the community of South Yorkshire, of which he has been a key figure for over 20 years.
Alan holds a number of key roles in the region, including Chair of the Robin Hood Airport Doncaster, Sheffield Consultative Committee, Chair of Rotherham PCT and Deputy Lieutenant for South Yorkshire. Earlier in the year Alan was acknowledged in the Queen’s Birthday Honour List. Alan Tolhurst said:
“It is a tremendous honour and privilege to be recognised with an OBE and I am incredibly proud. I thoroughly enjoy working within local communities in South Yorkshire to improve the region. The honour has come completely out of the blue, but obviously I am thrilled to be recognised.”
Alan started his career with the Royal Air Force, and has served in a wide variety of functions at operational and strategic levels. For the past 13 years, he has chaired NHS organisations with budgets up to £350 million, as well as supporting Chairmen, Chief Executives and non-Executive Directors to increase their effectiveness and performance, enhance productivity, build confidence and increase motivation.
Alan has worked with the idm group since 1995, undertaking consultancy projects with businesses and organisations, enabling them to develop their leadership, strategy and business planning as well as change management, improving personal and team performance and partnership working. "
